Privacy Policy

Last updated: 20 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how wed2wed (“wed2wed”, “we”, “us” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses and safeguards personal information when you use our website, wedding-website builder, digital invitations, guest check-in tools and vendor marketplace (together, the “Services”).

We designed the Services with privacy in mind and aim to comply with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (“NDPA”) and, where applicable, other data-protection laws such as the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”). Please read this Policy together with our Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Services.

1. Who we are and our role

wed2wed operates a two-sided platform: couples build wedding websites and manage guests, and wedding vendors run public storefronts to reach those couples.

For your account and the platform data we generate, wed2wed is the data controller. For the guest information a couple uploads and manages (for example, a guest list), the couple is the controller of that data and wed2wed acts as a processor handling it on the couple’s behalf. Vendors are controllers of the business information they publish.

2. Information you provide to us

Depending on how you use the Services, you may provide:

  • Account information: your name, email address and password (passwords are stored only in hashed form, never in plain text).
  • Wedding content (couples): partner names, wedding date, venues and addresses, your love story, photographs, wedding party, FAQs, live-stream links and registry or gift/bank details you choose to display.
  • Guest information (uploaded by couples): guest names and, where you add them, phone numbers, email addresses and party or table details, so invitations and check-in can work.
  • RSVP and guest responses: attendance status, messages to the couple and related details submitted through invitations.
  • Vendor information (vendors): business name, description, category, location and service areas, pricing, logo and gallery images, and contact details including email, phone, WhatsApp, website and social links.
  • Reviews and inquiries: star ratings and review text couples post, and inquiry/lead details (name, email, phone, event date and message) sent to vendors.
  • Payment information: when a vendor subscribes to a paid tier, payments are processed by our payment provider (Paystack). We receive confirmation and limited transaction details; we do not collect or store full card numbers.
  • Communications: messages you send us for support or other enquiries.

3. Information we collect automatically

When you use the Services we automatically collect certain technical and usage data, including:

  • Usage and analytics: site visits, vendor profile views and listing clicks, and invitation open events, collected using lightweight counters and beacons.
  • Device and connection data: IP address, browser type and general device information; for RSVPs we may derive an approximate country from the IP address.
  • Check-in records: logs generated when a guest is scanned or admitted at a venue.
  • Cookies and similar technologies (see “Cookies” below).

4. Cookies and similar technologies

We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to secure your session (via our authentication system). We also use your browser’s local and session storage to make analytics counting more accurate (for example, to avoid counting the same view twice).

We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling strictly necessary cookies may prevent you from signing in or using parts of the Services.

5. How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • Create and administer your account and authenticate you.
  • Host and display wedding websites, invitations and vendor storefronts.
  • Deliver core features: RSVPs, QR-code invitations, venue check-in, directions, add-to-calendar and gift details.
  • Operate the marketplace, including discovery, reviews and routing inquiries/leads to vendors.
  • Process payments and manage paid vendor subscriptions.
  • Send service and transactional emails (for example, account verification, password resets, new-lead and review notifications).
  • Measure, maintain, secure and improve the Services and prevent fraud and abuse.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

7. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as described here:

  • With other users: a couple’s published wedding content is visible to people who have the link; invitations reveal details to the invited guest; couple inquiries are delivered to the relevant vendor; vendor storefronts and the reviews couples post are public; couples may credit vendors in an “Our Vendors” section.
  • With service providers (sub-processors) that operate the Services on our behalf, including Paystack (payment processing), our email delivery provider, Cloudflare R2 (image and file storage/hosting) and Google Maps (embedded maps and directions). These providers process data under contract and only as needed.
  • For legal and safety reasons: to comply with applicable law, respond to lawful requests, and protect the rights, property and safety of wed2wed, our users and the public.
  • In a business transfer: if wed2wed is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, information may be transferred subject to this Policy.

9. Data retention

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services. When you close your account or ask us to delete your data, we will delete or anonymise it within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain records to comply with legal, tax or accounting obligations, resolve disputes or enforce our agreements. Couples can remove guest data and content from their dashboard at any time.

10. Security

We use technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including hashing of passwords, encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS), access controls and private, unguessable check-in links. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please keep your account credentials confidential and notify us of any suspected unauthorised access.

11. International transfers

Some of our service providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where personal information is transferred internationally, we take steps to ensure an appropriate level of protection consistent with applicable data-protection laws.

12. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you and request a copy.
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Request deletion of your information (“right to be forgotten”).
  • Object to or request restriction of certain processing.
  • Request portability of information you provided to us.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
  • Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, such as the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@wed2wed.com. If your request relates to guest information uploaded by a couple, please also contact the couple, who is the controller of that data; we will assist them as their processor.

13. Guests and other individuals

If you are a guest or another individual whose data a couple or vendor has provided, that person is responsible as the controller for how they collect and use your information. You may contact them directly, or contact us at privacy@wed2wed.com and we will forward your request or assist as appropriate.

14. Children

The Services are intended for adults aged 18 and over and are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

15. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.

16. Contact us

If you have questions or requests about this Policy or your personal information, contact us at privacy@wed2wed.com.
